Description

This monograph of the series Fauna Ibérica is devoted to one family of Coleoptera (Latridiidae) and is the first synthesis of the group from the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. The general chapters provide a comprehensive synthesis of the main advances on the taxonomy, phylogeny, biogeography, ecology and biology of Latridiidae beetles. The second part is more specialised and presents a catalogue of approximately 90 Iberian-Balearic species.

The reader will be able to identify the adult specimens of all the species through dichotomous keys that refer mainly to external morphological characters that can be identified by direct observation. Identification keys for subfamilies, genera and species are included. The descriptions of each species contain illustrations and information on their geographical distribution and biology.

The book is richly illustrated with 109 original plates and completed with an updated and comprehensive bibliography, as well as an annex to scientific nomenclature.
