Description

To date nearly 4.000 species of Histeridae have been described. Although these Coleoptera are mainly distributed in the tropical areas, there are records of 165 species living in the Iberian Peninsula. Furthermore, it may be presumed that many species are still unknown. An extensive chapter on the general characteristics of the species is also included. The descriptive chapter contains abundantly illustrated keys for the identification of all the taxa and extensive biological information. Finally, an appendix with the complete nomenclature is provided.
