Description

The monograph herein is the first devoted to the Chrysomelidae, a family with nearly 36,000 described species and probably much more still undescribed. The peculiar generalities of the group are reported and roughly 200 species, about one fourth of the total, are dealt with belonging to seven subfamilies: Orsodacninae, Zeugophorinae, Donaciinae, Criocerinae, Clytrinae, Cryptocephalinae and Lamprosomatinae. The keys for the identification of these species are included, as well as the illustrative drawings and geographic distributions for each one of them. Moreover, in most of the cases, biological data of interest are also indicated. At the end of this book, there is a very extensive appendix of scientific nomenclature. This work and the planned subsequent ones, are up till now unique synthesis on the whole Iberian-Balearic fauna of Chrysomelidae coleopterans.
