Description

This volume represents the beginning of the revision of Ibero-Balearic species of Phytophagoidea coleoptera. It starts with an extensive introduction to the superfamily Chrysomeloidea, continuing with a monograph on the family Cerambycidae, which provides a broad review of the 7 subfamilies, 45 tribes, 108 genera and 260 species currently known in the study area. Data on systematics, morphological description and information on the general geographical distribution, especially in the Ibero-Balearic area, are provided, as well as data on the general biology of both larvae and imagos. All taxonomic levels are given with easy dichotomic keys to separate the taxa. The work includes 204 figures of habitus or morphological details as an aid to the identification of each species. The book concludes with an extensive bibliography and two appendices, one devoted to updating the nomenclature of the species in question and the other containing a list of the most common phytohosts of Ibero-Balearic species.
